Last September 8, the shepherd who keeps the flock of sheep that grazes in the southern mouth of the Vielha tunnel, in the Val d’Aran, observed a massive detachment of sheep on the wooded cliffs that surround this valley.

Of a herd of some 2,500 sheep, from two different owners from La Ribagorça and the Pla de Lleida, there was a small herd of about 700 who were separated from the main group in a very steep zone, which are the ones that suffered the accident.

During the assessment of the damages, the Environmental Agents of the Conselh Generau d’Aran, the agents have located numerous bear excreta in the zone of the detachment, so the corresponding compensation files have been processed, in order to complement the value that farmers will charge by the insurances.
