Apiaries coincide with the bear activity between the months of May and October. Bears have an easily accessible food source in the beehives. To avoid bears from accessing the beehives, which are placed in areas where bears can be seen in the spring, they use electric fences. The main actions taken are:

• Assembly and disassembly of protection fences (with electric wire)
• Repair and maintenance of fences
• Clear the grass that is in contact with the electric wire
• Maintenance of the area (check the effectiveness of the fences)
• Information for beekeepers regarding preventive measures

During the campaigns of 2015 and 2016, a total of 22 apiaries have been controlled in Pallars and 8 in Aran. A total of 122 preventive actions have been taken in the sector during 2016 (93 in Pallars and 19 in Aran), and 110 actions during 2015 (93 in Pallars and 17 in Aran).
